A simple chocolate dip for fruit

Melt gently and keep water out of the chocolate itself.

You do not need a complicated dessert to put something sweet on the table. Melted suitable dark chocolate and fresh fruit can be enough, especially after a substantial meal.

Chop 100 g vegan dark chocolate into similar-sized pieces. Melt gently using a method appropriate for your equipment, stirring frequently and avoiding overheating. If using a bowl over hot water, keep the bowl stable and prevent steam or splashes entering it.

Wash and thoroughly dry the fruit. Dip pieces just before eating, or arrange dipped fruit on a suitable lined tray to set. Wet fruit can make the coating behave poorly and leaves moisture beneath it.

This is best treated as a small, fresh dessert rather than a long-storage project. Follow appropriate chilling for cut fruit. If serving guests, retain the chocolate wrapper so its ingredients can be checked, including any milk or nut warnings relevant to them.
